WITESOL invites all professionals working with multilingual learners in any context to submit session proposals for the WITESOL Fall Conference. This year’s conference will be held in Verona, Wisconsin, on Saturday, November 8, 2025. The conference theme is Stronger Together: Empowering Educators to Support Multilingual Learners. Please note: you must register in order to present at the conference, but you do not need to be a member to present a session.
You may submit only one proposal as an individual presenter. You may submit an additional form for a joint proposal (two or more presenters).
Each submission must contain a title (up to 12 words), a proposal (up to 300 words), an abstract (up to 50 words) and a biographical statement (up to 150 words). The proposal will be reviewed in terms of its ‘fit’ with the conference theme and its suitability for the intended audience. The title, abstract and biographical information may be used (if your proposal is selected) in the conference program and/or online through our social media outlets and website.
You may choose which type of session you wish to give from these four options:
1. PANEL (45 minutes, 3-5 panel members) Group of experts present and discuss current issues from the field. Note: The primary presenter is responsible for gathering all panel members before submitting a proposal.
2. WORKSHOP/PRACTICE-ORIENTED PRESENTATION (45 minutes, 1-3 presenters) Participants develop skills, materials or knowledge applicable to their classroom settings – minimal discussion of theory or research.
3. RESEARCH-ORIENTED PRESENTATION (45 minutes, 1-3 presenters) Discussion of classroom technique(s), materials, or knowledge including the theoretical base(s) and results of research – demonstration and application is not the focus.
4. POSTER SESSION (1-3 presenters) Open format poster to share ideas, experiences, and/or creative or academic work of interest to conference participants in a more informal setting. Teachers may submit proposals for posters created and presented by or with their students. Students of education and pre-service teachers are also encouraged to engage in this format. Note: Presenters should be prepared to explain their poster in 3-5 minutes several times as conference participants browse multiple posters.
